Patterson, Frank

Francis (Frank) Oliver Patterson, Sr. (1940-2015)

My father, Frank Patterson, was b. 25 June 1940 in Ivylog, Union Co, GA just a few miles north of Blairsville. The home they were living in at the time is now gone and that spot is under water since the dam was built at Nottely.

On 1 June 1962, Frank married the love of his life, Vanza Mae Davis. She was from Greensboro, NC (Guilford Co), where she was born on 21 August 1939. Frank and Vanza raised two sons, Francis Oliver (Chip) Patterson Jr, and myself – Charles Wesley (Wes) Patterson.

Frank and Vanza moved to Winston-Salem, NC in 1971 for Frank to attend Piedmont Bible College. He graduated in 1976, and by 1979 they and the family were in Bangladesh (in SE Asia) as missionaries. They served there off and on till 1992.

Frank died on 31 July 2015. Vanza died on 15 March 2018. Both died in Winston-Salem, NC.
